We’d like to extend a special congratulations to this week’s .US Site of the Week, Clean Air Task Force (CATF). CATF is a non-profit organization that is devoted to reducing air pollution around the world. Through combining research, advocacy and private-sector collaboration, CATF is able to influence federal policy to ensure clean air and protect public health.
The organization began in 1996 to decrease pollution caused by American coal-fueled power plants. Because of CATF efforts, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have since required coal plants to decrease emissions by 50%, which is estimated to save 13,000 lives per year.
